Christmas Time Is Heeeeeerrrrrreeeeee....

Um. So. I'm a little ashamed of myself that I totally forgot all about this blog! But hey, I still have a couple of weeks left in 2009 to redeem myself!
Anyway - enough groveling, this post is just about our Christmas Trees. Aren't they absolutely charming? Dreamy? Whimsical? I thought so too!!!

For the last 2 Christmases we were out of town. Christmas 2008 we vacationed in Wyoming (before we moved here) and we had fun visiting Ft. Collins, feeding deer and sledding! The next year we went to Georgia to see my mom and stepdad after his stroke. We helped bring him home from the Nursing Facility and it was quite a time.

So...a few weeks ago I was talking to my daughter, Jordyn. The Hubs and I had kicked around the idea of traveling to Salt Lake City for a short holiday trip maybe for a couple of days to see the sights and visit some "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Well....my little sweetie pie Jordyn looks at me and says "Mom, I just want to spend a Christmas at home. We are always doing it early and we don't have a tree. I just want to stay here."

OK, so if that wasn't a kick in the pants, I don't know what is. So it was settled. We're having Christmas at home. As for the tree thing....well....a couple years ago we had a yard sale and gave away all of our ornaments and our tree. So we needed to go and buy new trees.

Since we're in a new place starting new traditions I decided it was time for my trees to be special and different. And I knew what I wanted: a WHITE tree! And then I spotted mini-trees and told the girls they could each pick a color of their own. So we also have Pink and Purple! And after purchasing the trees I realized that I had bought a couple extra trees to make up for the 2 years we didn't have a tree.

Anyway - I love my trees. The big one is Mommy & Daddy's tree - it only has red and silver decor. The pink tree is Jordyn's and the purple tree is Darian's. They were only allowed to decorate in white and silver. No, I'm not going over the top. I just have particular rules so my trees won't clash. DON'T JUDGE ME. (tee-hee...yes, I'm shamelessly over the top!!!!) Enjoy our Christmas Tree Magic! :)

Almost March...

Where does the time go??? Just last post it was New Year's Day! Sheesh....

So a quick run down - more photos and such later....

1. We got back from Georgia
2. On a total whim we decided to move into our new house BEFORE finishing the renovations. Condo life was NOT for us, we really wanted to be in our home - done or not.
3. Major demolition...family room.
4. Major demolition...kitchen.
5. More major demolition...see #'s 3 & 4.
6. Work, school, life, changing churches, random snow flurries, started diets, slowly sliding off the diet wagon...
7. Fun much needed trip to Denver to spend LOADS of money and regain some family unity and sanity.
8. Renovation Procrastination...quickly remedied by planned visit from Mother In Law.

So the status as of today:
  • We are probably a week away from finishing our family room (minus the new fireplace because...well...budget may not permit it...but the granite surround looks LUSCIOUS!).
  • Kitchen should be done in about 2-3 weeks. We have all the new cabinets and appliances. We should get the new gas line plumbed in and will tackle the new lighting ourselves.
  • Work - great!
  • School for kiddo's - great!
  • Spring Break Plans - I am going back to Georgia for the week to give my mom and Bob a little respite care! And if I'm lucky, I'll break away for some southern fried EVERYTHING. Actually, the highlight of my trip will be spending a Sunday at Trinity Fellowship Church and of course, mom's cooking.

I will update later - gotta run! T

Happy New Year!

We are back home now and taking a day to recuperate from the craziness! We went to Georgia for the Christmas Break and worked a LOT. It has been a very busy time. But today is our day to regroup and just sit still in our own house! More to follow...
